St. Ignace

St. Ignace is the first city of Michigan’s upper peninsular when driving north across the Mackinac Bridge. Actually, St. Ignace is the third oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States. It was a native settlement long before Fr. Marquette and the French explored the Straits area. From fur trading, to fishing, to shipping on the Great Lakes, St. Ignace has changed with the times.

St. Ignace is home to a wide variety of activities and attractions. Bayside concerts and fireworks, a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, catch a ferry to Mackinac Island, tour the Museum of Ojibwa Culture all in St. Ignace. You can try your luck at the casino, climb Castle Rock and parasail the Straits of Mackinac, right from St. Ignace. You can see the new fawns at the Deer Ranch, check out the Mystery Spot and travel back in time with strange historical figures at the Weird Michigan Wax Museum of St. Ignace.

Stay the night or spend a week in one of the fine motels, cozy cabins, or picturesque camp sites. Dine at the local eateries and discover some of the area’s best fresh fish entries.

Come to St. Ignace and see the Upper Peninsular!
